Member Spotlight: Siarhei Duboiski, owner, head-coach, Eminence Fencing Academy

Lake/Forest Lake Bluff Chamber:  Tell us a little bit about Eminence Fencing Academy and the classes and programs you offer?

Siarhei Duboiski:  Eminence Fencing Academy is a new fencing club in Lake Forest specializing exclusively in foil fencing. We offer programs for all ages and skill levels, from beginners to professional athletes. Our programs are designed for anyone who loves fencing and wants to excel in the sport while enjoying it and achieving success. Whether you're new to fencing or looking to hone your skills at a competitive level, we provide a supportive environment where you can reach your goals.

LF/LB: What inspired you to open a fencing academy in our community?

SD: Several factors inspired me to open a fencing academy in this community. First, Lake Forest and the surrounding areas are wonderful and welcoming places, making it an ideal location for a new fencing club. Additionally, many students from schools participating in the Chicago School Fencing League need extra training.

Moreover,  wanted to provide a local venue where people could discover the joy and discipline of fencing, as other fencing clubs are far from here. By establishing Eminence Fencing Academy, I aim to make fencing more accessible to the community and offer a convenient option for those interested in pursuing this dynamic sport.

LF/LB: What is your hope or vision for the future of Eminence Fencing Academy?

SD:  My hope and vision for the future of Eminence Fencing Academy are to build a large and close-knit community centered around the sport of fencing. I envision creating a successful project with over 400 like-minded individuals who share a passion for fencing. Our goal is to foster a welcoming environment where everyone who loves fencing can come together and train in our club.

In the long term, I aspire to expand by opening numerous branches in different areas and states, making fencing accessible to even more people and allowing more individuals to experience the sport.

LF/LB:  How does Eminence Fencing Academy plan to support to the community and work with other local businesses?

SD:  Firstly, we aim to be an active community partner by hosting events, workshops, and demonstrations that bring people together and promote the sport of fencing. By engaging with local schools, organizations, and community groups, we hope to foster a greater appreciation for fencing and contribute positively to the local culture.

Additionally, we plan to build strong relationships with nearby businesses to create mutually beneficial partnerships. This could include collaborating on local events, offering special promotions or discounts for local residents, and supporting local businesses through cross-promotional opportunities.

LF/LB: Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself, your team or the sport of fencing?

SD: I’d like to share that our team at Eminence Fencing Academy brings a wealth of experience and passion for the sport. Each member is highly skilled and dedicated to helping our students reach their full potential.

Fencing is a unique Olympic sport that combines physical agility with mental strategy, offering a dynamic and rewarding challenge for all participants. It's also one of the best sports for college admissions, often providing opportunities for scholarships. Many top colleges have fencing programs and participate in the NCAA, making it an excellent path for student-athletes.

My personal passion for fencing drives my commitment to fostering a supportive and enthusiastic community. Looking ahead, we have exciting plans for future events and expansions, and we’re eager to continue growing and contributing to the fencing community.
