Member Spotlight: Laura Marks, Owner, Flowers by Laura Lou

 

 Lake/Forest Lake Bluff Chamber:  Tell us a little bit about Flowers by Laura Lou and the services you offer?

Laura Marks:  Flowers by Laura Lou offers specialty florals and unique designs for everyday occasions, weddings, corporate events and parties.

 

LF/LB: What inspired you to take over this wonderful local business?

LM:  I started working with flowers whenI was 12 years old and always wanted to have a shop.  The Katie Ford team wanted to keep things open and to continue the beautiful designs of Katie.

 

LF/LB: What is your vision or hope for the future of your business?

LM:  Our hope is to continue to grow and to support the floral needs of the community.  To bring joy to all of our clients.

 

LF/LB: How does Flowers by Laura Lou plan to support our community under your leadership?

 LM:  I hope to bring joy, through flowers, to the community I have lived in for the past 25 years.  We will continue to offer demonstrations to various garden clubs and other groups.  In addition we offer support where we can to nonprofit groups.

 

LF/LB: Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself or the business?

 LM:  I began my training at age 13 when I worked along side a family friend who trained me for the next 6 years.  After college I worked in events at the Chicago  Botanic Garden and The University of Chicago Hospitals.  After raising my 3 kids I went back to the floral business in 2021.
